Phyo Thu Ko grew up in a small village in Southern Shan State. His parents are both farmers. On Facebook and on other social media sites he noticed the announcements about TAG-Microsoft’s Hour of Code launch event,  and was intrigued.  Before the event, Phyo Thu completed all 14 levels of the Minecraft tutorial, which has been translated into the Myanmar language by TAG volunteers. 

Just hours after completing the Hour of Code activity for the first time, he volunteered to co-lead the next Hour of Code activity.  Phyo Thu is now interested in pursuing a degree and a career in computer science.
