First Aid
Tag supported the Georgia Red Cross in the delivery of a comprehensive training program over a six month period in the Senaki region of Georgia. It involved extensive first aid training, publication and distribution of informational material and building links with community organizations. Tag also helped the Georgia Red Cross to refurbish and equip a new first aid training center at its headquarters in Tbilisi, where volunteers participate in first aid courses.
Resource Mobilisation
Tag delivered a capacity building seminar for the Georgia Red Cross with the support of USAID and MDA UK. Knowledge and ideas were shared by participants and the Tag and MDA experts who facilitated the seminar. More than 30 Red Cross volunteers and staff engaged with new ideas and fundraising methods and discussed how different regions across Georgia were approaching fundraising.
Care for the Elderly
Tag worked with the Georgia Red Cross to provide home care and social support for the elderly who are isolated in their own homes. In cooperation with MATAV, Israel’s largest home care for the elderly organization, we provided training for social workers and volunteers, and retired nurses, and for administrators to establish an effective management system.
Presentations were made at four hospitals and three universities to raise awareness and understanding of the project. Discussions were also conducted with four local municipalities (Tbilisi, Kakheti, Guria and Samegrelo) to facilitate implementation of the home care project. With the support of the European Union and the Danish Red Cross, the Georgia Red Cross published a home care handbook in the Georgian language, which draws upon the training provided by MATAV and Tag.
