Project in brief

We identify people involved in our projects who exhibit an exceptional spirit of dedication and selflessness and create compelling viewing content that inspires and educates by showcasing their extraordinary efforts. We surprise them with gifts we know will make a difference in their lives and make them super happy - and we capture it on film to others can be moved as well.

Each segment feature wonderful people who are doing amazing acts of heroism and selflessness who are highly needy and live under extremely harsh conditions. They show the difficult circumstances of our ‘hero’s’ life, along with what heroic efforts they have made to achieve noble things despite those circumstances, and highlight a cathartic moment of coming good through a massive unexpected reward – the surprise.

Meet Vanessa Mariscah

The Korogocho slum in the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya is one of the most deprived slums in the world. There live many extraordinary people, who dream big and work hard to make their dreams come true. One such person is a 13-year-old girl named Vanessa Mariscah.

Despite living with great hardship, she is an inspiration – excelling in her academic studies, sport and music. We surprised her in a public show of appreciation in a way she is unlikely to ever forget. Watch the video to see us surprise her good!

In her own words, here are Vanessa’s reaction (appearing in the video):
“I felt very included; thanks to my coaches for selecting me… I felt very happy; I never expected that I would be selected… I would like to be both a basketballer and a lawyer… I want to be a lawyer to talk for those who cannot talk for themselves… and… support them in any way I can… to fight for them.”
